The Opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned, "hands-on" Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement activities for a major manufacturing facility in Texas City. As the senior procurement authority on-site, you will be responsible for the safe and economic delivery of goods and services for a business producing over 3 million tonnes of product annually. You will lead a dedicated team while managing high-value contract negotiations and optimizing warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Lead the delivery of all procurement activities associated with the site, including the maintenance of cost control and anti-fraud processes.
Team Management: Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance development for a team of six professionals, including Procurement Specialists, P2P Support, and Stores Associates.
Operational Execution: Act as a "working manager" with direct responsibility for vendor management, price negotiations, placing purchase orders, and expediting.
Contracting & Logistics: Ensure an effective suite of contracts is in place for goods, service delivery, and logistics to enable smooth business operations (excluding feedstock and catalyst).
Warehouse & Inventory: Oversee the optimization of the stores warehouse, managing approximately $5M in inventory, cycle counts, and re-order levels to prevent plant outages.
Compliance: Rigorously adhere to the Delegation of Authority (DOA) process and chair approval calls in association with the Site Manager.
Stakeholder Engagement: Network with other global business units to leverage spend and provide high-level briefings to Board members regarding contract awards and strategies.
Required Profile
Experience: 5–10+ years of proven procurement experience, ideally within a chemical plant or heavy industrial environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
Technical Skills: Deep expertise in SAP P2P processes, commercial controls, and a strong understanding of contract law.
Negotiation: Expert negotiator with advanced knowledge of procurement techniques and commercial analytical skills.
Leadership: Proven ability to build, motivate, and manage high-performing teams while influencing senior stakeholders.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.
