Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and coach Entry-Writing and Customs House Brokerage (CHB) staff.
  • Workflow Management: Assign accounts, distribute workloads, and measure staff performance to address issues proactively.
  • Cross-Departmental Support: Assist local branch Import Transportation teams with brokerage requirements.
  • Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot freight issues with US Customs and other relevant government agencies.
  • Strategic Improvement: Collaborate with senior management to enhance departmental performance, streamline workflows, and improve existing audit procedures.
  • Operational Oversight: Complete entry work as needed, audit files for accuracy, and oversee the billing process and "dwell time" for all files.
  • Client Integration: Lead the onboarding of new clients based on sales requirements and specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Compliance: Ensure the accuracy of US Customs information across all files and execute specialized projects as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Certification: Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) accreditation required; Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with US Customs and other government agencies.
  • Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of US Customs rules, regulations, and entry procedures.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in personnel supervision and professional training.
