The Branch Manager leads from the field. The role centers on developing the team, upholding safety and quality standards on active job sites, building durable relationships with local property managers, and managing the branch to plan. Corporate teams provide support across recruiting, billing, finance, and safety so that branch leadership stays focused on the work and the people.
We look for leaders who have run an operation of their own, who are comfortable being measured against clear objectives, and who take pride in building a well run branch. Candidates with strong field leadership experience will be supported with training and coaching in the areas they have not yet owned.
Core Responsibilities
Safety
- Lead the branch safety program and reinforce that safety takes priority over production in every decision.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and pre job planning for all elevated and high risk work.
- Confirm that every technician is trained, certified, and properly equipped before performing rope access, lift, ladder, or fall protection work.
- Report incidents promptly, lead the root cause review, and coordinate claims and return to work with Human Resources.
Fleet and Equipment
- Maintain the safety, reliability, and professional appearance of all branch vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure daily inspections and preventive maintenance schedules are completed and documented.
- Manage tooling, consumables, and equipment inventory, and control loss and damage.
- Submit capital requests supported by workload and by the utilization of existing assets.
Team Leadership and Development
- Maintain an active local recruiting pipeline so the branch is staffed ahead of demand.
- Oversee onboarding, technical training, and certification of new technicians prior to production work.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and document performance consistently.
- Develop crew leads and future supervisors, and build a succession bench for key branch roles.
- Monitor turnover and retention, and address the underlying drivers.
Financial Performance
- Manage the branch P&L, including direct labor, materials, equipment, vehicle costs, and branch overhead.
- Manage labor against estimated hours and address jobs trending over budget within the week.
- Review monthly financial results, explain variances, and execute the corrective actions required.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll, timekeeping, and billing data.
Customer Relationships and Quality
- Conduct regular job site visits to verify safety, quality, and productivity in the field.
- Maintain a consistent visit schedule with key customers and property managers.
- Perform quality inspections and resolve deficiencies before they reach the customer.
- Take ownership of escalations and respond to the customer the same day.
Retention and Growth Support
- Own customer retention and renewal performance for the branch.
- Identify additional work at existing properties and refer qualified opportunities to the sales team.
- Support sales with site walk throughs and accurate scoping so that work sold can be executed profitably.
- Ensure new accounts are launched cleanly and delivered to standard from the first service.
Performance Measures
- Safety: recordable incident rate, near miss reporting, workers compensation cost
- Financial: gross margin, direct labor as a percent of revenue, overtime, overhead to budget
- People: voluntary turnover, open positions, time to fill, certification compliance
- Customer: retention and renewal rate, escalation volume, quality inspection results
- Execution: on time job completion, billing accuracy, payroll accuracy
Qualifications
- Three or more years of leadership experience in field operations, branch management, or a comparable service environment.
- Experience managing to a budget or a P&L with accountability for results.
- Demonstrated success recruiting, training, and developing a field workforce.
- Strong safety orientation and experience in physical, hands on work environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both field technicians and commercial property managers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working in payroll, scheduling, and job management systems.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in window cleaning, exterior services, facilities services, restoration, roofing, landscaping, or a comparable crew based business.
- Familiarity with rope access, suspended scaffolding, aerial lifts, or fall protection programs.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish.
- Experience with SmartService or a comparable field service management system.
- Career progression from technician or crew lead into a leadership role.
Work Environment and Travel
- Daily local travel to job sites and customer properties within the branch market.
- Work performed in office, vehicle, rooftop, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to access roofs, ladders, and lifts, and meet all applicable fall protection requirements.
- Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work based on customer requirements.
