Position Title: Material Control & Inventory Manager (Project Site)
Position Summary
The Material Control & Inventory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the site laydown yard, coordination of material deliveries, and maintenance of accurate inventory on a single data center construction project.
This role ensures the laydown yard is organized, space-efficient, and synchronized with the delivery schedule and construction sequence, with the goal of maintaining minimum necessary inventory in the smallest practical footprint while ensuring materials are available when needed for installation.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Laydown Yard Management
- Establish, organize, and maintain the site laydown yard to support efficient material storage and flow.
- Define and maintain clearly labeled zones for:
- Immediate use materials

? Limited buffer storage

- Efficient use of space (no sprawl or uncontrolled storage)

- Maintain housekeeping, organization, and clear visibility of all stored materials.
- Delivery Schedule Coordination
- Coordinate all material deliveries to align with the project schedule and short-term lookahead (2–6 weeks).

- Only when needed (just-in-time)

- Receiving & Material Control
- Oversee all material receiving activities, including:
- Verification of quantities and materials against delivery documentation ? Visual inspection for damage
- Ensure all materials are properly logged, labeled, and placed in designated locations within the yard.
- Maintain control of all inbound materials from point of receipt through storage.

- Perform regular cycle counts and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Ensure all material movements (receipts, relocations, issues) are recorded and traceable.

- Adjust yard layout and priorities based on changing project needs and sequencing.

- Ensure materials are stored and handled to prevent:
